Using Reddit for B2B Growth
If you’re not using Reddit as part of your B2B strategy, you’re missing out on a goldmine of opportunities.
Reddit is often referred to as the “front page of the internet,” and for good reason.
With over 1.5 billion monthly active users and 130,000+ communities (subreddits), it’s one of the most engaged online spaces.
Here’s how you can leverage Reddit for B2B demand generation:
1. Find the Right Subreddits
Start by identifying relevant subreddits where your target audience is most active.
Subreddits like r/marketing, r/digital_marketing, and r/growthhacking are great for B2B marketers.
Each has thousands of members discussing the latest strategies and tools. Participating in these communities allows you to build credibility, share your expertise, and learn directly from potential customers.
2. Contribute First, Promote Later
The key to succeeding on Reddit is to add value before you promote anything. Redditors are quick to spot self-promotion, and if you’re only there to sell, you’ll get downvoted or even banned.
Though in this post, a Redditor asked about promoting books, this comment is valid for almost every sub on reddit.
Instead, start by engaging in discussions, answering questions, and offering insights.
For example, if someone in r/AskMarketing asks about lead generation strategies, provide a detailed answer and help others first. Build Karma in that sub for few weeks.
3. Utilize Reddit Ads for Targeting
Reddit’s ad platform allows for very specific targeting.
You can create Promoted Posts that show up in the feed of users within selected subreddits.
This is perfect for B2B demand generation, as you can target communities relevant to your product. Make sure your ads feel organic—offer value like a free ebook, case study, or a tool demo instead of just pushing for sign-ups.
4. Track and Measure Engagement with AI Tools
Use tools like Gummy Search to monitor Reddit discussions that are relevant to your industry.
Tap into these insights, and craft more effective Reddit posts that align with what users are interested in.
5. Leverage Content from Top-Performing Posts
Reddit provides a wealth of user-generated content that can inspire your marketing campaigns.
Check the top posts in subreddits like r/marketing or r/content_marketing to see what resonates with the audience.
Use this information to create high-value content or to tailor your product messaging based on the community’s feedback.
Remember the “Sherlock Homeboy” method: reverse-engineer successful posts to replicate their success in your own campaigns.
6. Build Karma and Credibility Over Time
Reddit values authenticity. The more helpful you are, the more “Karma” points you earn, increasing your credibility.
Don’t rush the process. Comment thoughtfully, upvote relevant posts, and share useful resources. Over time, you’ll establish a presence as a trusted expert, making it easier to promote your brand when the opportunity arises.
